English Courses for Children aged 3-11 in Bordeaux Caudéran

Every Wednesday, Ermitage International School Bordeaux welcomes children aged 3 to 11 for after-school English activities in the heart of Caudéran. Our programs are designed to combine learning, fun, and language immersion in a stimulating and caring environment. Children develop confidence, curiosity, and cultural awareness while making natural progress in English.
We offer two options - English Club or Cambridge Club - allowing children to strengthen both oral and written English from kindergarten, gain solid foundations for primary and secondary school, and enjoy a rewarding and motivating experience.

English Club: Immersive English Workshops for Children in Bordeaux

Our Wednesday English workshops offer full immersion in the English language, with a pedagogy based on play, creativity, and interaction. Every Wednesday, children become active participants in their own learning and progress at their own pace.

Playful and immersive learning for children aged 3 to 11

Led by a native English-speaking teacher and a French-speaking assistant, each child learns at their own rhythm while having fun, thriving in a warm and motivating atmosphere. The workshops are designed to spark curiosity and a love of learning. Children take part in:

  • Group games and fun activities to learn while moving
  • Songs, stories, and rhymes to enrich vocabulary and pronunciation
  • Creative projects: arts, crafts, theater, and role play
  • Outdoor discovery in our leafy 1,800 m² courtyard, perfect for play and shared moments

Children progress naturally, gain confidence, and develop strong oral skills in a supportive, international environment.

Cambridge Club: Preparing for Cambridge Young Learners

The Cambridge Young Learners preparation program is designed for primary school children (ages 6–11), supporting each child according to their level and pace. Led by an experienced teacher, these sessions offer structured guidance with internationally recognized outcomes.

What is Cambridge Young Learners?

Cambridge Young Learners is a series of English tests specially designed for young learners. All Cambridge English exams are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), ensuring internationally recognized learning. Children build oral and written skills, independence, and confidence in English.

The three Cambridge exam levels

This preparation complements the English taught in primary school and targets three levels:

  • Pre A1 Starters: discovery level, ideal for early primary
  • A1 Movers: consolidation of knowledge, equivalent to the expected level in Grade 6 (Year 7)
  • A2 Flyers: advanced level, allowing children to complete primary school with strong foundations, equivalent to the expected level at the end of middle school (Grade 9 / Year 10)

These evaluations provide a motivating and rewarding way to track progress, while helping children acquire solid foundations to approach secondary school with confidence and ease. Once ready, children enrolled in the Cambridge Club also have the opportunity to take the official Cambridge Young Learners exams directly at Ermitage International School Bordeaux, in a familiar and supportive environment.

Why Learn English from Preschool and Primary School?

Learning English from a young age has many advantages. Pronunciation and listening skills develop naturally, enabling children to easily absorb sounds and accents. Through playful and motivating learning, including songs, games, and stories, children discover the language in an enjoyable and interactive way.

This early approach also builds a solid academic foundation, giving children reliable tools to approach secondary school and beyond with confidence. Beyond academics, learning English encourages cultural awareness, curiosity, and the joy of learning a foreign language.
